Introduction
Dravyaguna vigyana is a branch of Ayurvedic science which deals with properties and therapeutic uses of medicinal plants. Plants play an important role in Ayurvedic therapeutics. Department of Dravyaguna vigyana mainly deals with pharmacology, pharmacognosy of medicinal plants. Along with theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge is also given to students in the attached Herbal garden & Phramacognosy laboratory.
Objectives
- Understanding the Principles of Ayurvedic Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Materia Medica.
- To train students so as to become skilled professional in Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics of Medicinal plants as well as Modern Pharmacology.
- Maintenance of Medicinal plants garden for developing identification skills in students and also to conserve various species of Medicinal plants.
